BECKY HUDSON

Rebecca Sue Hudson passed to her heavenly home on January 16, 2023, at the age of 68. She was born in Lodi, CA, on January 31, 1954 to Ralph and Mary Grace Wetmore. Becky attended local schools and graduated from Lodi High School in 1972. After graduating from California State University Chico with her teaching credential, she taught kindergarten at a Christian school in Santa Maria and then at Century Christian School in Lodi. Becky took some time away from teaching to raise her young family. After her children became older, Becky resumed her teaching career with the Lodi Unified School District. Becky taught mostly 3rd grade at Leroy Nichols and Manlio Silva schools. After 22 years with LUSD, Becky retired from teaching in June of 2014.

Becky married Scott Hudson on July 9, 1977 at the First Congregational Church in Lodi. Together, they raised their family in Lodi. Becky loved gathering with friends and family and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was the light and life of any gathering she attended. Scott and Becky enjoyed spending time at their second home in Bend, Oregon, visiting with their grandchildren, attending concerts, and traveling. They were members of Vinewood Community Church. For many years, Becky enjoyed singing in the church’s choirs and ensembles. She also helped start the preschool at Vinewood Church.

For a number of summers Becky was either a counselor or director at Shasta Camp Cherith, a Christian Camp for young girls. There, she made lifelong friends with her fellow counselors and many of the young girls. More recently, Becky served on the Board of Directors for the SJFB Foundation for Agriculture Education. As a supporter of introducing students to our local agriculture, Becky was happy to serve on this board. Becky was an avid SF Giants fan. Attending Spring Training in Scottsdale and watching every Giants game on TV was on her agenda each season.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Scott, her two daughters, Sarah Newton (Ricky) and Ruth Fox (Nathan), five grandchildren, her brother, Jonathan Wetmore (Cathy), sisters, Lisa Shinn (Larry) and Mary Beth VerHagen (Scott) and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 5 at 2:00pm at Vinewood Community Church with a gathering at the church to follow.
