KENNETH MAGDANZ SR.

On January 24, 2023 we lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Kenneth George Magdanz Sr was born March 17th, 1933 in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He spent his young years living between Minnesota and Lodi, Ca. He was grateful for the practical education he received at the mechanical school at South Dakota State Teachers college. This led to his 30 year career with the Air Force as a heavy radar mechanic, and electronic installation squadron team chief. His work took him traveling to many areas in the US and foreign countries. Ken served in the army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. During this time, he was married and blessed with two sons, Ken Jr. and Phil Magdanz.

His love for farming began on his Uncle’s farm in Minnesota and continued in Lodi growing grapes for over sixty years. In 1971 he married Naomi and was blessed with beloved step children, Karen and Gary. He always loved having a horse, playing games, motorcycles and traveling. He and Naomi took many trips and cruises, and enjoyed their vacation winter home in Sky Valley, California.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Naomi, his children Ken Magdanz Jr (Rita), Phil Magdanz, Karen Kellar (John), Gary Patterson (Polly Crabtree), Nine grandchildren, Stephanie Larkin (Terrell), Andy Magdanz (Mary), Jon Magdanz (Lia), Amanda Vogds (Carter), Jesse Kellar (Louisa), Lindsey Klein (Geoff), Cody Patterson (Emily), Kelsey Rafuse (Daniel), and Joshua Patterson. Eleven Great-Grand children, Gracie, Autumn, Jack, Ridley, Luke, Ada, Woodrow, Everly, Jon Jr., Jasper, and Lizzie.

A celebration of his life is planned to be on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, which would have been his 90th birthday.
