Boating safety course now available in Spanish

— News-Sentinel staff

SACRAMENTO —

California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways will offer a boating safety course in Spanish. Like its English counterpart, the “Curso de California para Navegación” home study e-book is free and helps Californians comply with the state’s mandatory boating education law.

The course includes an overview of personal water safety, safety equipment, navigation rules, boating law, preventing accidents, rescue and more.

Both of DBW’s Spanish and English courses are free and can be read and/or downloaded online at dbw.parks.ca.gov/BoatingSafetyCourse.

Power boat operators are required to carry a California Boating Card to legally operate a motorized vessel on waterways in the state. The card only costs $10 and lasts a lifetime. For more information or to apply for a card, visit www. californiaboatercard.com or call 844-421-8333.
